I Hate Winter

Of course, I am not really too crazy about summer either.  I am one picky, picky bitch when it comes to the weather.

I’d be pretty darn happy if I could find some place that was pretty much 78 – 80 all year, with a couple of days of 60′s in the “winter” and a couple of days high 80′s in the “summer” – yeah.. that’s for me.

Probably I should live on a climate controlled Moon Base or something, but no one has yet obliged me by building condos on the moon… so.

As it turns out, I did NOT go shopping Friday night.  I did drive by the Mart, but even the lane turning in was crazy, so we pretty much just made do Friday and Saturday night.  Last night I had a bowl full of cauliflower and cheese for dinner.

Handily, things are melting away now, and I have a B Dazzlers Captains meeting at 5:30 at Wild Wing Cafe… so dinner tonight should be a darn site tastier than a bowl of cauliflower with melted cheese and some fakon bits.

Already checked out the Menu online – they have a good looking grilled chicken salad, but I might end up with a baked potato and house salad instead…  I have kinda been craving baked potato for a while, and it might just be time to go ahead and have one.

Maybe not, though, as there was no practice this morning due to the snow, so there’s certainly not been a potato’s worth of exercise done today.  Winter – Bah!

THIS JUST IN!

So, there is supposed to be some winter weather tonight.

There is nothing I hate more than winter weather moving in on the night that I ALWAYS do my grocery shopping.

It’s going to be a mad house. But… I have to go – we go week to week on groceries – shopping has to happen every Friday to keep us in food.

I kinda feel like I ought to be able to go to the store and shout “HEY!  THIS IS MY REGULAR SHOPPING!  I AM NOT A PANICKY BREAD AND MILK BUYER!  GET OUT OF MY WAY!”

But I will not do that.

I will go.

I will shop.

I will be annoyed, but, not the first time in my life that’s happened ;)

Free Money!

OK, OK, I know that the tax return is not free money.  It’s MY money that I have overpaid the government and allowed them to use interest-free all year and if I adjusted my withholdings I could have that money in my pocket all year and could invest it in my own way blah blah blah blah.

Let’s face it… if I DID adjust my withholdings and get that extra few bucks in my pocket each paycheck, I would NOT be doing anything responsible with it.  It would just go to the local Chinese restaurant or be used to buy new shoelaces or something.  so I purposely DO NOT adjust the tax withholding so that I may get, what appears to me, to be a large pile of FREE MONEY each February when I do my tax return.  YAY!

As I try to do each year, the largest chunk of it will get squirrelled away in the savings account.  This year, that means the FED return will go into savings.  It will go directly to savings.  It will not pass go.  It will not allow anyone to collect $200.  And there’s no “get out of savings free” card either.

BUT!  The STATE return… well, that’s never super large or anything.  So we take that to spend on any frivolity we might care to.  Half for me and half for the SB.

$288 to spend on any ridiculous thing I want!  Woo Hoo!

I am getting an iPod.

Specifically a “Refurbished iPod nano 8GB Orange (previous generation)” – which is only $99, as opposed to the current version fancy pants “I have a video camera in me” Nano, which would run me $149.  I don’t really need the camera, and since I am so very, very late adopting this crazy “iPod” technology anyway, I think I can stand to be a version behind.

The rest I am tagging for my upcoming tattoos!

I LOVE FREE MONEY!

NCP’s Tummy Tuck Blog 1/21/10 – 6 Weeks!

Wow…   So it’s been six weeks since the surgery.

In some ways, it feels like I healed up in no time at all.

I still remember the first two weeks, though…  Those did not feel like no time.  I felt EVERY ONE OF THOSE DAYS!

Still…  in the grand scheme of things, I feel pretty good about the whole thing.

Track, Damn You! Track!

I am not sure what the difference between UPS “Ground” and “Basic” is… but I’ll tell you this.  UPS “Basic” shipping is NOT overly forthcoming with the tracking information.

The last update on my swim suits is that they left San Pablo, CA on 1/15.

Where they are now?  Who knows.  Hopefully closer to me than California!

I shall wait patiently.

No… no I shall not, I shall wait impatiently, but wait I shall.

Ordered my 1st costume for Dragon*Con 2010 today.  My friend and I are going to be Alice and the Mad Hatter.  Alice is going to have her throat cut and be covered in blood. The Mad Hatter (me) is going to have blood dripping down chin / neck / chest and be carrying around a blood-dripping tea pot and tea cup.

The costume I ordered is to the left.

Now, that skirt is crazy short, so I will be getting a black petticoat to go under it and add some length.

And I am not into having my fanny hang out, so I will switch the thigh high tights for ACTUAL tights that cover the bum-al area. (I’ll trim or tuck in those garters…  and who the hell wears garters OVER a skirt, anyway?)

But of all the costumes I saw, I loved this one’s hat the most, and the bustier is awesome.

And it will be all the more awesome with the blood!

First full contact scrimmage last night since the surgery.  It was great.  I was a bit worried at first about whether a bad fall might hurt, but when I went to hit one of the jammers and she crouched down and I basically rolled over her back and onto the floor and rolled again… And it DID hurt more than it would have used to, but certainly not enough to be worrisome… then I knew I was back and would be fine, so I am very happy with that!

————————-

UPDATE – 6 hours later…

So NOW the tracker says that my package has made it all the way from San Pablo, CA on 1/15 to, 4 days later…. SAN PABLO, CA!

Wow!  That’s some serious package progress over FOUR DAYS!

B-Dazzlement

So I did have my one-on-one review with my TC rep last week.

It was enormously helpful in terms of giving me good, concrete things I can work on to improve my game.  Specifics are always best for me.

For example, I knew going in that most of my issues spring from the fact that my lateral movement is not as good as it needs to be.

But me saying “I need to work on my lateral movement” is much different than someone on the TC saying… “Yes, you are right… and I recommend that you specifically practice skating / weaving on one foot until you are as comfortable doing that (on each foot) as you are on two feet, and you might also want to work some short bits of plyometrics into your regular off-skate workouts, because that will help you with quick direction changes.”

See… those are things I can actually implement, vs. my rather vague need to “work on” it.

I guess that’s why they are the training committee!

So while I was talking to my TC rep… I also said that I didn’t think I was really ready to play on the A-Team yet, and that I felt that I still had more to offer as a B-Dazz.  So I was certainly not surprised when the A Roster came out and I wasn’t on it.  I think that is the best thing for me for now.

However, my TC rep did pull me aside later and tell me that I had been a strong candidate for the A roster, but since I had said I didn’t want to be on it…   yeah so…

Which made me feel really good, and I said so to her.  Hearing that makes me think, well, maybe next quarter I might actually try to get on the A roster.  But for now, I think another couple of months of B-Dazzlement is the right thing for me.

I am in the hat for captain for the B team… the results of that will be in on Tuesday, so we shall see what happens with that.  I think that no matter who’s the captain, we’ve got a pretty good B roster this time around.  I also think that if I DO get captain this time, it will be the last time I do it.  After this, it will be time to try and focus more on me, and stepping up my game, whether I get into the “A” world next quarter or not.

Bliss! Bliss, I Tell You!

The lovely and talented Frances, of Corpulent fame, posted the below little gem in the comments on my previous post linking to http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/.

I immediately added it to my Google Reader because… oh oh oh…  oh!

This food is, I’ll admit, a site healthier than the bacon fried cheese covered delights featured in the above.  But it is not less scrumptious looking and is wonderful and food-porn-y for all that it clearly wouldn’t give you a heart attack just to smell it.

The latest posts are all about frozen yogurt, which, frankly, other than the BEAUTY of the photography, I wasn’t too hepped up on… but going back further brought me to a Chinese food section (well, pan-Asian), which… I don’t know if I mentioned this?  I am planning on getting a Chinese Food Themed TATTOO because I love it so much, so, yeah.  Gluttony IS Bliss, my friends… at least these pictures of it!

TWO PIECES!

Do you know what I have never, ever, ever, ever owned at any point during the entire 35 years I have been in existence on this planet?

I’ll wait while you ponder that… I imagine there are, in fact, several more answers than the one I am considering now.

But anyway…

I have NEVER owned, worn, or contemplated a Two Piece swim suit.

As a kid, well, that’s something my mom just didn’t go in for.

Then, once I was past 12, I was already big enough that society’s message of “hey, fatty!  no one wants to see you in a bikini, you are gross!” was already coming through loud and clear.  (oh how I wish someone had taught me the true meaning of the words “Screw you” back then)

As an older teen, I was so horrified and shamed by my very existence that the idea of swimming in front of anyone at all, no matter what I was wearing (and I often wore a t-shirt over my suit) was unthinkable.

So here I am, 35 years old… never had a bikini.

Until yesterday.

When I went out on the internet and I ordered this:

and this:

And just for good measure, even though it’s a one-piece, but hey – it has SUSHI! – this:

I looked on a ton of sites and all the two piece suits I managed to find appeared to be designed for beach hookers.  I am not interested in looking like a beach hooker.  I am interested in finding something that looks athletic, and work-outy and like I would like to swim because I am looking for exercise, not a date.  (but hey, at the same time, I DO want a two piece – I PAID for this belly, dammit!  and I’m going to show it while I’ve got it! – yes!  even the stretch marks!)

But then I found this site: http://www.swimoutlet.com/ that sells fitness and competition swimwear – like for people who want to actually swim, and who would maybe like the suit to cover at least some part of their butts! And who, just perhaps, might need more than a tiny triangle of material to cover the boobal area because hey, they might be small, but they are 35 years old now and need something to rein those puppies in.

So, I found what I wanted, I looked at the size charts and read the reviews of what people had to say about the fit.  And I ordered them.

They’ve already shipped, so if they come in by Tuesday, I’ll take my six week tummy tuck photo in one of them – since I need to post that anyway.  And if they don’t fit, well, I picked a site with a good return policy, and I can exchange them for a different size.

Yay!
