So I have always been of the opinion that Brussels Sprouts are gross.
Never liked them as a kid or as an adult.
Being a fair and open minded person, I allowed as how I might now like them because my mom always boiled the things to death and maybe they would not be so bad prepared some other way.
I’d been seeing a lot of online places talking about the absolute JOY that is a roasted Brussels Sprout, so I figure, what the hell, I’ll try one more time.
So for Easter dinner, I bought a container of fresh Brussels Sprouts. I dutifully cut off the ends, which they say is what makes them bitter. I cut them in half. I tossed them with olive oil, salt and pepper.
I roasted them for 30 minutes on 375, stirring halfway through to bring a lovely caramelized color to the outside.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand… they still tasted like Brussels Sprouts.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand… I still don’t like them.
OK, OK, they at least weren’t “Gross” this way… but it’s definitely something I can check off my list of foods.
Done and done!
Hey world… here’s something one might not think requires ‘splainin… but apparently it does.
When a public restroom has 5 stalls in it and stall # 5 at the end is occupied, while stalls # 1, 2, 3, and 4 are empty… it is acceptable to come into said restroom and enter stalls #1, 2 or 3 to take care of whatever business you have to do.
Bypassing stalls #1, 2 and 3 and then sitting down in stall # 4?
That’s just weird and creepy, man.
So I got my Bone Density Test Results…
I have “mild” osteopenia. Which, Osteopenia is already mild… so a mild version is, basically… “hey, you passed 35, lady, get used to it”
Anyway… to make sure it stays that way I need…
A Calcium supplement (which I have already been taking for years)
An additional Vitamin D Supplement (which I started taking last week when my Doc said my vintamin D levels were low)
And… weight bearing exercise… which, it just so happens, I’ve been wanting to start lifting weights… really lifting… havy ones, not just the little dumbells I’ve got at home.
So I guess it all works out then.
And no, I still haven’t scheduled that pesky mammogram… I guess that’s coming soon.
Sitting in Doctor waiting rooms sucks. Sigh. If I had known that a 4pm appointment really meant “we’ll do your test at 4:30″… I’da made a 3pm appointment.
Oh well… Just getting a bone density scan to see if this Depo shot I am on has done any damage or if I can keep taking it. I got scanned, like, 5 years ago and I was OK, so we’ll see what comes of this.
At least sitting here gives me a chance to post a post…
