Attention Please!

I would like to take this moment to announce that I will absolutely not be participating in NaNoWriMo this year.

I am not a “Writer”.

I have, upon occasion, had a good idea or two for a story.  But I have neither the time, energy, stick-to-it-iveness, or talent to write anything that needs to be paid attention to for more than 30 minutes.

I certainly am not qualified to write a novel.  Especially not in one month.  I will stick to the reading of novels written by other people.  I think it’s for the best all around.

So here I am, bucking the announcement trend.

NO NaNoWriMo for me!!  Ha!

THIEF!!

OK so I am just wholesale STEALING this joke from Out of Character, because this is EXACTLY how I feel about clowns.

A clown is walking hand in hand with a child into the woods. The child looks up at the clown and says, “It’s really dark out here! I’m scared! Let’s go back!”

The clown pats the child’s hand and smiles. Keeps walking deeper into the woods.

“It gets darker and scarier the farther we go!” whines the child. “Let’s go back!”

The clown shakes his head and keeps walking.

“Mister, please!” the child says, “It’s dark and spooky out here, I’m really scared!”

“How do you think I feel?” the clown says, “I have to walk out of here alone.”

Do, or Do Not

Dear all humans on the planet,

If you want to make a complaint about something, that is fine.

If you want to make a complaint about something and then refuse all follow-up contact and all attempts to actually investigate said complaint…

Well, don’t be too surprised when NOTHING COMES OF THE COMPLAINT.

This has been a public service announcement on how how to file a complaint.

Thank you.

Summer Wind Down

Summer appears to be going away now.

Which is supremely odd, because around here, it never really bothered to show up.

I can count on one hand the number of times I said “whew, it’s hot” since June.

We never hit 100 in all of July or August.

Barely got mid 90s most of the time, and only a few nasty humid days.

Please don’t think I am complaining… this has been one of the most pleasant summers I can remember EVER!

I’m just saying, if this is what global climate change is going to be doing to the Piedmont of NC… I think I might be able to live with it.

Just In Case the Last Post was Too Much for a Friday

I am looking for new blogs.

Funny Blogs.

Blogs written by people who are not total assholes or douch bags (I mean, a little is fine, everyone gets to be an asshole sometimes, but not flat-out all the time assholery)

Interesting Blogs

Ranty Blogs

Not!  Hard Core Political Blogs (of ANY leanings).

And, since I am lazy and like other people to do my work for me…

Lay out some options in the comments, folks…  I need your help.

I have decided it’s time to get back into blog-land, and I need someone to give me a really good map.

Truth and Blogging

Sometimes I will go to a blog or a site that I have been reading for a while, and I will read a story that, I don’t know, just doesn’t exactly ring true.

Like – no way in hell that really happened, or happened like that.

When I read a post like that, it really makes me call into question the entire history of the blog.

I mean, I know this is the internet, and we are all anonymous, and nothing really HAS to be true, and even though I talk about my life and post pictures of myself playing roller derby, for all you know, I am really a 93 year old gay man living in Korea.

But still, when I get invested in a “person” on a blog, but then I read something that makes me really question whether they are just making it all up, well, it just is kinda like finding out all that candy wasn’t really left by a mutant magic bunny, and all just came from the store.

The blog reading experience is never really quite the same once the likelihood that it’s fiction raises its head.
