So I went down to the men’s homeless shelter today to drop off several bags of hand knitted and crocheted scarves that I and several other ladies at work have been making over the summer.
Dropped them off.
Used the pen there to sign the drop off form.
Now my throat is a little sore, which is something that happens to me all the time, and goes away as quickly as it comes on.
But my brain immediately jumped to… “You went to the homeless shelter! You touched their pen! You must have the flu!”
Like just because it’s a shelter, it’s crawling with super flu bugs that have the capacity to make me sick within 30 minutes of my return.
Sometimes the things my brain will think of surprise even me.

This thing BETTER be gone by tomorrow afternoon.

UPDATE – 11:30. My brain is refusing to function. This building is freezing. I am drinking hot drinks, but too many of them tend to make me feel icky.
It’s not so much the sick, which is really just sort of localized in my left sinus, with a little uncomfortable pressure on the brain in that area.
It’s the “I am monumentally tired from the wretched, snotty-nose-interrupted sleep that went on until 3:30 am when the flood finally stopped itself up into a less viscous sort of item that stays where it’s created unless dislodged by forceful air flow” (TMI Much?)
At 3:30 am, with the help of three aspirin and an extra blanket, I drifted wonderfully off to sleep, breathing through most of my nose in a very satisfactory manner.
But the alarm clock, she is a bitch, and she goes off at 5:30 am. I snooze buttoned for an entire hour, which made me “late for work” (not that I can really be late in my environment… my boss is both flexible and sits in another state), but still did not allow for a sufficient amount of rest to enable me to function at a level higher than “whiny-ass-blog-posting”
So here I am… whining. whinging, whinying – however you want to spell that.

UPDATE 1 PM
Had hot cocoa. Made me feel WAY better than previous cups of tea. Probably something to do with the sugar… Prolly leave work early, though.
