NCP’s Tummy Tuck Blog – 4/8/10
OK, so today is officially 4 months.
And I said I would post some pics, so I will.
I can tell a big difference between these and the last set at 6 weeks – but I am not sure most people could.
I think the biggest change is that there’s some muscle definition now. Being able to see the abs has led me to doing more core work – it’s like a new toy!
The stiches are all dissolved, so the scar is less rigid than it was. I do occassionally have some pain in the seam when I lay on one side or the other for too long, but that’s pretty much it.
Not much fading of the scar yet – still red – you can see it around my belly button.
Still no sensation in the lower belly – that’ll take some time.
But all in all? Still rate this as “best thing ever!”

You look great! And there’s definitely some abs there – you’re obviously working hard! Can’t see a lot of scarring in these pictures either – obviously you picked a good surgeon!
I can see why you say its the best thing ever!

I don’t see any scarring at all, and neither did Nooze.
In fact, when she looked at the pictures, she accused me of LYING about your surgery.

If it’s not too personal to ask, what do you mean that you have no sensation in your lower belly? Is your entire lower abdomen permanently numb? That sounds a bit unpleasant!

Simone – nothing is too personal – I resolved to blog everything about the Tummy Tuck!
When they cut the skin to take off the extra, it also cuts the little nerves. It takes about a year for them to grow back.
So… about 80% of the skin below my belly button is sorta numb. I can kinda tell if I touch it, but it’s not overly sensitive.
Luckily, it DOES come back… I had jaw surgery once as a kid, and the same thing happened to my chin.
It’s weird, but not really “unpleasant”

You look fantastic!
I had 3 c-sections and the same loss of feeling happened to me. It came back about six months afterward but I didn’t find it too alarming either.

I cannot thank you ENOUGH for posting about your tummy tuck experience!! I lost a lot of weight and just got the ‘okay’ from my insurance for a tummy tuck, so I’ve been trying to find detailed blogs about what to expect. You look FANTASTIC and I hope I have results as good as yours!

I just had a tummy tuck 12-28-11 and am a little over 4wks. out. I actually had an abdominoplasty, A paniculectomy,a circumferential body lift and a lateral & medial thigh lift. I found comfort and motivation reading your blog, thanks for sharing!

Wow – this has been a great blog, thank you! I’m just waiting for my tummy tuck in about a month’s time and so many on/off thoughts have been whirling round my head – on the “is it worth it REALLY” and it’s a lot of money” front, but this is very reassuring, thank you! I’m also reassured now that my Dr insists on a two day hospital recovery, so hopefully should be nice and comfortable and able to relax away from the kids for the worst bit of the recovery. Anyway, a big thank you!!!

Thank you, thank you for writing this! I have a question…have you ever had children? I ask because I am currently pregnant with my 2nd (and LAST), and my husband and I talked about how I would like to have a tummy tuck after this pregnancy. I expect that I will wait a year or so after the baby is born to let my body go back to ‘normal’, but I am deeply concerned about what it will be like to go through this surgery with a 3 year old and a one year old running around. Sound too insane? Perhaps I will just need to hide for a few days after the surgery at a nice hotel somewhere? *laugh*

I do not have kids. From what I understand, if you HAVE had kids, it’s more intense… because they usually cinch up your abs while they are in there.
