No Celery Please – NYC Edition!

Yogurt is NOT CAKE

Posted in Uncategorized by noceleryplease on May 19, 2010

Dear crazy marketing people that are trying so desperately to sell me yogurt,

No matter how you spin it, if I want a piece of cake or pie, rest assured, a cup of your yogurt with artificial sweetener and chemical flavorings designed to taste vaguely like some kind of cake or pie is NOT going to take care of that craving.

Now, I don’t have a problem with yogurt, per se.  But sell it for what it is, folks… goo in a cup.  It’s NOT really apple pie a la mode, no matter what you put on the outside.

I’m just sayin’

Thanks,

NCP

My mother used to make yogurt. She would take one spoonful of plain yogurt and drop it in a bowl. Then she’d pour a litre of milk into the bowl. She’d take that bowl and put it in the oven. She wouldn’t turn on the oven as though she was baking a cake; she would just turn the oven light on. The next morning, the bowl would be full of plain yogurt.
So, is yogurt cake? I dunno. Maybe it is. Really lazy cake, but cake none-the-less.

You haven’t really given it a chance, have you? Have you tried closing your eyes while eating yogurt cake? You really shouldn’t prejudge yogurt like this. It’s remarkably adept. And if that doesn’t work for you, I’ve got some tofu cake that is dead on.

    Peace,
    Shannon

    • Tofu cake would probably be more like cake than those crazy Yoplait things.

I actually love that Yoplait shit. Some of them do taste scarily like cake or pie. The Lemon Torte Delight actually has a hunt of graham cracker.

I’m like a crack whore, except with yogurt.

    • I’ll give them that the yogurt might be tasty….. But I’m not buying the line that it’s going to take the place of cake.

Clearly if it doesn’t, you just need to WORK HARDER ON THINKING IT DOES!

I hate those ads too. Especially since the poor guy is all desperate for dessert – why can’t he have any?!
