No Celery Please – NYC Edition!

Real Food is Not That Tiny!

Posted in Fooooooooooood! by noceleryplease on January 3, 2013

OK, this bothers me endlessly… you know, in a totally petty, not even worthy of being called a “first world problem” kind of way.

But…

I love food.  I love food blogs.  I love to look at pictures of lovely, yummy food.

But when I am looking at a food blog, and the blogger is talking about how great and wonderful and “filling” and “low-whatever” this food is…  sometimes I think… “That looks great!  I want to try that!”

Then I look at the picture of the “serving” that they have taken a picture of.

AND THE DAMN FORK IS THE SAME SIZE AS THE SERVING!!!

THAT IS NOT DINNER!

I CANNOT EAT A MEAL FOR DINNER THAT THE SERVING SIZE IS TWO BITES!

IF YOU ARE A PERSON WHO EATS TWO BITES OF FOOD AND IS “FULL” – YOU SHOULD NOT BOTHER COOKING!  OR ADVISING PEOPLE ON TASTY THINGS TO EAT!  BECAUSE TWO BITES IS NOT A MEAL!  NO IT IS NOT!!!!!

OK – Just wanted to get that off my chest.  Food bloggers…  PLEASE…  take a picture of a damn meal that someone human could actually eat as a meal, ‘k?  Thanks.

To my knowlage, I have always taken ‘real’ portion size food pics for Food Porn. 😉

    • YES!

The “Paleo” community is really bad about this one. They are all “look how healthy and awesome this meal is! You should eat it and it will fix everything about your life! Oh – BTW – you are only allowed to have 3 ounces of food. Sorry!”

Them: Here is this awesome dish and it’s only 300 calories….
    Me: {Reaching for fork}
    Them: What are you doing?!?
    Me: Gonna eat it….
Them: Are you crazy?! It’s only 300 calories to LOOK at it, not eat it!

I don’t care how “artistic” the presentation, it’s food, not art. If it doesn’t fill me, it’s not doing it’s job, and if I am paying for it, it had better be a meal not a snack!
